John W. Snead, M.D., MBA, FACS is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and the Founder and Medical Director of SNEADEYE GROUP / Eye Physicians in Fort Myers, Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, from Birmingham Southern College and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine. He completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Ophthalmology, as well as a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Snead also completed a fellowship in eye micro-surgery in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. John W. Snead has been serving Southwest Florida’s eyesight needs since 1985.

Originally from Anniston, Alabama Dr. Snead graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he received his medical degree. Dr. Snead attended Auburn University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Snead completed an Internal Medicine Internship at the Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Alabama and completed his Ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta, Georgia.
As Georgia’s Ophthalmology residency program is recognized as a leading program in the country, Dr. Snead’s surgical training, expertise, and case volume far exceeds many other doctors in practice today. Throughout his education, Dr. Snead has received numerous awards and honors and was awarded the first place research award at Georgia Regents University in 2011.
Richard Davis, M.D.
Board Certified Ophthalmologist
Dr. Richard Davis has been an integral part of the Fort Myers community for over three decades. In 1975 Dr. Davis opened South Fort Myers Eye Care and Cataract Center in a thriving part of south Fort Myers and the rest as they say is history. His soft spoken demeanor and the ability to relate to his patients in a calm and caring manner, have made Dr. Davis one of the most successful ophthalmologists in Southwest Florida.
Scattered throughout the office, his patients are acutely aware of Dr. Davis’s commitment to his military service and his patriotism. Mementos of time served in the United States Navy, Medical Corps are evidence of his dedication to serving the public.
Dr. Davis is a graduate of Adelphi University, B.A. Magna Cum Laude and a graduate of New York Medical College that includes a surgical internship. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Davis, Ca. Society memberships include: American Academy of Ophthalmology, Florida Society of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Lee County Medical Society, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
MICHAEL PHAM, OD
Board Certified Optometrist
Originally from Canada, Dr. Pham completed his undergraduate degree in Genetics at the University of Western Ontario and his doctorate in Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. While in Chicago, he trained at the University of Chicago, Department of Ophthalmology and furthered his training at the Veterans Affairs medical centers in Huntington, WV and Gainesville, FL.
Dr. Pham has been a prominent optometrist in the Ft. Myers area for over 19 years. Dr. Pham’s experience includes primary care, low vision examinations and geriatrics, with an emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease. He provides comprehensive eye exams for his patient’s beginning at 8 years of age. He works closely with the ophthalmologists at Snead Eye Group to evaluate patients for dry eye disease, glaucoma, and pre and post operative care for cataract and eyelid surgery. He is trained in contact lens fitting including many specialty lenses.
Dr. Pham is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. In addition to his clinical work with Snead Eye Group, Dr. Pham also maintains his own private practice, Sanibel Eyecare, on Sanibel Island.
Bob Furman is a familiar face here at Snead Eye Group with over 12 years experience in our premier optical shop. His long term commitment to providing exceptional customer service shines through in his warm smile and friendly hand shake. He’s the face you know in the Optical area, and he typically knows you by name the next time you come to visit. Bob has been in the optical industry since 1959 in all phases of development, and is a true craftsman, an artisan at ensuring you find the best eyewear to meet your individual needs.
Bob spends quality time with his wife when he isn’t working, and serves as a volunteer with the Prison Ministry for the past 17 years. He has a true passion for helping those in need. An interesting side to Bob that you probably don’t know is that he is an avid collector of antique fountain pens from all over the world. When you are asked to sign the credit card slip, Bob will loan you one of his rare antique fountain pens to sign your name!
Barney Goodman is the managing Licensed Optician in our Fort Myers and Naples locations. He earned his board certification as a Licensed Optician in 1988 and has enjoyed a career in both retail and private practices. His talents include specializing in providing world-class customer service, and selecting a variety of curated frames from all over the world. At Snead Eye Group his unique selections offer an emphasis on frames that you won’t find in most optical departments, satisfying even the most discriminating tastes. Barney serves on the Board of Directors for Glades Electric, a large-scale electric co-op, he also owns and operates a small 47 acre commercial agricultural operation in SW Florida. During his time away from work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife traveling, and when time permits enjoys restoring classic cars. He is currently building a 1970 Superbird, which will eventually be his daily driver, so keep an eye on the parking lot for a limelight green funny looking car with a big wing, and a funny nose.
